Both have won Excellence in Craft awards for their writing and TV show.

Education

REV has been actively involved in our local schools for more than 50 years.

A recognized leader in support of education in our community, REV earned the Louisiana Department of Education’s 2007 Distinguished Partners in Education award. In addition to grant and scholarship programs, REV actively supports our area schools in a variety of ways.

Adopted School

Since 2000, REV has been the school adopter of Gonzales Primary School, donating nearly $15,000 for school initiatives. REV employees volunteer at school events and are able to assist the faculty with school programs and fundraisers.

Ascension Fund

Established in 1991, the Ascension Fund was started to promote teaching excellence and fund creative and innovative classroom activities in Ascension Parish schools. REV donated $50,000 to begin the fund and, after 15 years, it has generated over $950,000 in funding dollars. The resources make a difference in the classroom by enhancing the learning experience and making the curriculum more fun and interesting. Applications for the Ascension Fund are submitted each January and evaluated by teams of readers representing the community, local businesses and educators.

Digital Media Curriculum

REV donated over $20,000 to help create a digital media curriculum in local high schools. The program initially launched at Dutchtown and East Ascension high schools and later expanded to St. Amant. The curriculum digital photography and digital video components, with a focus not only on building these technical skills, but also on helping students cultivate critical thinking abilities.

River Parish Community College Foundation, Inc. Golf Scramble

For more than nine years, the River Parishes Community College Foundation, Inc. Golf Scramble has been raising funds to support higher education in our community. Each year the Foundation awards $14,000 in merit-based scholarships to eligible RPCC students.

REV is a proud sign and scoreboard sponsor at many area schools and highlights local athletic events on REV TV Channel 4 with our Game of the Week program.

Spartan-Gator Shout-Out

East Ascension & St. Amant

The Annual Spartan-Gator Tailgate Shout-Out helps raise funds that are shared by East Ascension and St. Amant booster clubs to fund programs at both schools. REV has been a significant corporate sponsor of this event in recent years.

Teacher of the Year & Support Staff Awards

Every year REV honors the exceptional teachers and support staff members chosen for the annual Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year awards by the Ascension Parish School System.

2021 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

2021 marked the 37th anniversary of the REV Academic Scholarship. Since 1984, we have had the honor and pleasure of assisting the future leaders of our community in pursuing their educational goals.

Over 207 scholarships have been awarded, ranging in value from $500 to $6,000 — totaling $885,300.

In 2021, $22,500 were given in scholarships to the following seniors:

Scholarship applications will be made available mid-January with a deadline of mid-March. Please check back at that time for an application.

Reach-A-Kid Teach-A-Kid Grant

The Reach-A-Kid Teach-A-Kid grant program provides teachers in Ascension Parish with funding for innovative teaching projects. Each year REV funds a total of 10 $500 grants to promote creative educational programs. Past grants have funded everything from new keyboards, an American Girls’ reading club to building and launching rockets. 

Events

Whether it’s celebrating local arts through the Jambalaya Festival or non-profits such as March of Dimes, REV supports and sponsors a range of events that help fuel the local economy by attracting both visitors and new businesses to the area.

March of Dimes Ascension March for Babies

The goal of March of Dimes is that one day all babies will be born healthy. The money raised supports programs in our community that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies. It also funds research to find answers to the problems that threaten our babies. Nationally, the March of Dimes spends 76¢ of every dollar raised in March for Babies to support research and programs that help babies begin healthy lives. Learn More

Jambalaya Festival

The Jambalaya Festival Association, chartered in 1967, invites you to mark your calendar for the annual Jambalaya Festival to be held in Gonzales, Louisiana on Memorial Day weekend. The whole family can enjoy a vast variety of food, fun, music and activities that have made the Jambalaya Festival a highlight of the year. The festival features World Champion Jambalaya served daily, live music and entertainment, carnival rides, cooking contests, a variety of food and so much fun it takes four days to get it all in. Learn More

Children’s Miracle Mansion

Proceeds from the Children’s Miracle Mansion ticket sales benefit Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital and more than 60,000 area kids treated at the hospital annually. The money donated to the hospital is used to purchase life saving pediatric equipment, expand resources and help local children receive care close to their homes and families. Learn More

Ascension Christmas Parade

The Ascension Christmas Parade has been a tradition for Ascension Parish families for many years. The event hosts over 100 floats, local school marching bands, beauty queens and Santa with his elves. As one of the largest Christmas parades in the state, this great event is a great way to begin the holiday season. Second Sunday in December, 2:00PM – 4:30PM.

Our Lady of the Lake Ascension Family Fun Fest

Our Lady of the Lake Ascension and its Women’s Advisory Council, sponsor a community health day which is held on the hospital campus. The goal of this event is to focus members of the community on their own health and wellness by providing free health screenings, information booths, and children activities. Healthcare providers, non-profit organizations, and area businesses participate in the event. Learn More

River Parishes Community College

The RPCC Foundation holds a golf tournament fundraiser to provide need and merit-based scholarships for students. The foundation ensures that 100% of the net proceeds go to students to support their educational and professional endeavors. The ultimate goal is to expand educational opportunities for all citizens of the region and to enhance the area’s economic development. Learn More

Spartan-Gator Shout Out

East Ascension and St. Amant high school students, staff, alumni and fans gather to cheer their schools at the annual Spartan-Gator Tailgate Shout Out event, held the day before the annual football game between the Ascension Parish schools. Coaches, pep bands, cheerleaders, dance teams, and flag squads all attend the event, along with both football teams, to decide the owner of the “Spirit Stick”. All proceeds from the event will be donated to both schools’ athletic programs.

CCA Banquet

The Ascension Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association of Louisiana holds their annual banquet to raise money for the mission of CCA, which is to protect marine resources and to improve current state of saltwater fishing for recreational fisherman. The banquet features a live auction, silent auction, raffles, great food and fun with fellow fishermen. Learn More

Parade of Homes

The Capital Region Builders Association Parade of Homes is a great opportunity to see the latest in home building! During the event, the public can tour newly constructed homes and get a sneak peek at home trends, design, and products. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet CRBA builder members and discuss their own homebuilding plans and dreams.
